DUBAI, May 28 (Reuters) – Jailed Bahraini activist Abdulhadi

al-Khawaja ended a more than three-month-long hunger strike on

Monday evening, his wife said.

Khawaja, who is also a Danish citizen, received a life term

for charges including attempting to topple the Gulf Arab state’s

monarchy. He went on hunger strike on Feb. 9.

“He has stopped his hunger strike,” Khadija Almousawi,

Khawaja’s wife, told Reuters by telephone from Manama. His

lawyer had said earlier that Khawaja, a leading figure in

Shi’ite Muslim-led pro-democracy unrest that erupted last year,

felt he had succeeded in drawing attention to the issue of

imprisoned activists.
