White Sox 2, Rays 1: Adam Dunn hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth, and Chris Sale racked up 15 strikeouts as Chicago held on in a meeting of AL contenders.
The White Sox have won six straight and nine of 10 to pull even with Cleveland atop the American League Central. The Indians were in action at home against Kansas City.
Tampa Bay lost for just the second time in six games a day after pulling even with Baltimore atop the American League East.
Sale (6-2) allowed one run on three hits over 7 1/3 innings to win his third straight start. Addison Reed pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
Matt Moore (1-5) matched Sale for much of the day, racking up 10 strikeouts in seven innings while allowing two runs on four hits.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago’s Paul Konerko went 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to 14 games but dropping his major league-leading average to .395. … Moore has not won since May 1, going 0-4 in his past five starts.
