The Colorado Rockies designated Jamie Moyer for assignment Wednesday.
The Rockies now have 10 days to trade or release Moyer, 49. The left-hander made a comeback from Tommy John surgery after missing all of last season. He became the second-oldest pitcher to win a major league game when he beat the San Diego Padres April 17.
Moyer is 2-5 with a 5.70 ERA this season.
“It’s a tough pill to swallow, but it’s part of the business,” Moyer told reporters. “It’s all about putting up results.”
The Rockies will recall reliever Carlos Torres from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
