Brewers 7, Pirates 0: Carlos Gomez launched a three-run homer, pushing Milwaukee to a series win in Pittsburgh and its fifth victory in six games.

One night after his dropped fly ball led to four unearned runs in a loss to the Pirates, Gomez made amends. His three-run homer to left off Pirates starter Erik Bedard (7-14) gave the Brewers a 3-0 advantage in the fourth. Aramis Ramirez added a two-run homer in the fifth.

Milwaukee starter Mark Rogers (2-1) won his second consecutive start, pitching five shutout innings with three hits allowed, three walks and five strikeouts. Bedard lost his second start in a row, surrendering six runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Corey Hart and Jonathan Lucroy singled with two outs in the fourth, setting up Gomezâ??s 13th homer. Rogers doubled leading off the fifth and later scored on Rickie Weeksâ?? one-out single. With two outs, Ramirez hit his 18th homer to center as Milwaukee took a 6-0 lead.

Lucroy finished 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored and Hart added two hits as the Brewers improved to 7-3 in their past 10 games.

Josh Harrison recorded two hits for Pittsburgh, which has lost five of its past six.

Pittsburgh activated LHP Hisanori Takahashi and placed RHP Chad Qualls on the DL with irritation in his left big toe. Takahashi pitched a perfect eighth inning. â? The Brewers head to Chicago to play the Cubs in a four-game series beginning Monday. The Pirates host St. Louis in a critical three-game series in the NL wild card race, starting Monday.
