HOUSTON, Aug 29 (Reuters) – Anadarko Petroleum Corp

said on Wednesday that six of its eight oil and gas platforms in

the Gulf of Mexico, including the natural-gas only Independence

Hub, remained shut and evacuated on Wednesday as Hurricane Isaac

hovered over the New Orleans area, preventing crews from flying

out to assess possible damage, restart and restaff.

“We continue to monitor the track of Hurricane Isaac and

will only return our workers and restart production when it is

safe to do so,” the Gulf’s largest natural gas producer said.

The Independence Hub can produce up to 1 billion cubic feet

of natural gas per day. The other five shut platforms — Marco

Polo, Neptune, Constitution, Gunnison and Red Hawk — can

cumulatively produce up to 244,000 barrels per day of oil and

834 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
