CARACAS, Oct 2 (Reuters) – An explosion at a gas well in

Venezuela injured four people on Tuesday in the latest accident

to hit the energy industry in the South American OPEC nation,

state oil company PDVSA said.

PDVSA said in a statement that the workers were stable in

hospital after the blast, which was caused by a leak at the

Petrourdaneta project in western Venezuela’s Zulia state.

On Aug. 25 a gas leak caused an explosion at the country’s

biggest oil refinery, Amuay, which killed 42 people, wounded

dozens more and damaged some 1,600 homes in the

area.

On Sept. 20 a lightning strike set fire to fuel storage

tanks at another refinery, El Palito, but no one was hurt.
