Recap: South Carolina State 27, Savannah State 13

South Carolina State 27, Savannah State 13: Richard Cue passed for two touchdowns and ran for an insurance score late in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs defeated the visiting Tigers.

Cue threw for 214 yards – overcoming three turnovers and eight sacks – for South Carolina State (5-6), which closed its season with victories in three of its last four games by beating Savannah State (1-10) for the 14th time in 15 meetings.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the first quarter when Cue hit Tyler McDonald for a 29-yard score, but the Tigers answered right back with a touchdown of their own. Nick Belcher hit a pair of field goals to send South Carolina State into the break with a six-point advantage before increasing the margin to 20-7 with 6:21 left in the third quarter when Cue found Caleb Davis for a 3-yard score.

Savannah State responded with a third-quarter touchdown, but Cue needed just one play after a blocked field goal to run 20 yards for a score to put the game away with 5:07 remaining.

Dylan Cook caught six passes for 100 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers, who finished 1-10 for the third consecutive season.
