Recap: Auburn 92, Grambling State 42

Auburn 92, Grambling State 42: Noel Johnson and Jordan Price came off the bench to score 14 points each and shoot a combined 8 for 10 from 3-point range as the host Tigers scored 65 second-half points to snap a four-game losing streak.

Chris Denson scored 13 points while Frankie Sullivan and Rob Chubb added 10 points apiece for Auburn (3-5), which shot 54 percent from the field and forced 24 turnovers en route to its highest-scoring performance of the season after an 11-day break. Allen Payne chipped in with nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Derron Hobbs led Grambling State (0-7) with 11 points on 3-of-11 shooting. The GSU starting lineup made just 10 of 39 shots.

Johnson’s 3-pointer sparked an 11-1 run as Auburn ran out to a 17-6 lead 9:55 into regulation. Chubb’s two free throws gave Auburn a 27-15 lead at halftime.

Auburn scored the first eight points of the second half as part of a 20-4 stretch. Shaquille Johnson and Noel Johnson capped the stint with back-to-back 3-pointers and Grambling State never threatened down the stretch.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Auburn’s previous top scoring total came in an 80-76 loss to to DePaul on Nov. 30. … Auburn is now 5-0 all-time against Grambling State. … The GSU Tigers were just 4-for-18 from 3-point range.
