Louisiana State 80, Chattanooga 67: Andre Stringer and Johnny O’Bryant III scored 18 points apiece as the host Tigers pulled away from the Mocs to stay unbeaten.
Corban Collins contributed 11 points off the bench for Louisiana State (6-0), which buried 9-of-19 (47.4 percent) 3-pointers and had a 44-33 advantage on the glass.
Z. Mason led Chattanooga (2-7) with 22 points. Ronrico White had 17 as the Mocs fell for the seventh time in eight games.
Chattanooga trailed by 15 points early in the second half before going on a 23-10 run that Mason ended with a 3-pointer to cut the Tigers’ lead to 55-53 with 11:34 remaining. Stringer answered with a 3-pointer to ignite an 11-0 burst.
Following a Mason layup, O’Bryant III converted a three-point play to make it 69-55 with 6:58 left. LSU led by as many as 17 points down the stretch.
GAME NOTEBOOK: This was the first meeting between the programs. … O’Bryant also had 10 rebounds, three blocks and a steal. … LSU was playing its first game since a win over Seton Hall on Nov. 29.
