Qdoba restaurants in Wheaton and Glen Ellyn are part of 18 in Chicagoland that will shutter its doors this week.

They’ll close on Friday at 3 p.m., according to the chain’s social media feeds on Twitter and Facebook. The locations include one at 587 E. Roosevelt Rd. in Glen Ellyn and another at 2001 S. Naperville Rd. in Wheaton.

The restaurant in Glen Ellyn has been open since 2010, said manager John Valianos.

“It is what it is. The company’s gotta do what it’s gotta do,” he said. “It’s hard enough to get through this week, and then we’ll worry about finding new jobs.”

He offered a few comments to the store’s customers, saying, “It’s been fun. I love them and we’ll miss them.”

A manager at the Wheaton Qdoba declined comment.

The fast casual Mexican chain will close a total of 67 underperforming restaurants. Qdoba expects to more than offset the closures with new stores by the end of September. The chain currently had 647 restaurants at the end of its most recent quarter, of which 340 are franchised.

Other West suburban locations closing are in River Forest, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Downers Grove, Hillside, St. Charles, Woodridge, Elmhurst and Oakbrook Terrace.
