Just because the special performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem music director Riccardo Muti is conducting with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus on Oct. 10 — the exact date of the Italian composer’s birth 200 years ago — has been sold out for weeks doesn’t mean the rest of the world cannot hear it at the same time Orchestra Hall does.
The CSO is presenting a live streaming of the Requiem performance over the Internet and also via a satellite broadcast to the new, state-of-the-art LED screen at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.
Online the performance can be viewed live at the orchestra’s website, cso.org/Verdi; the site RiccardoMutiMusic.com; and the CSO’s Facebook page, facebook.com/Chicago Symphony.
Vocal soloists will be Tatiana Serjan, Daniela Barcellona, Mario Zeffiri and Ildar Abdrazakov. Muti’s 2010 CSO recording of the Verdi Requiem won two Grammy awards.
