Clue and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are among finalists for inclusion in the National Toy Hall of Fame’s class of 2013.

Selection is based on whether the toy is widely recognized, respected,and remembered; it’s enduring among multiple generations; it fosters learning, creativity or discovery; and it profoundly changed play or toy design, which, according to Hall of Fame guidelines, carries the most weight.

The other 2013 finalists are bubbles, chess, Fisher-Price Little People, little green Army men, Magic 8 Ball, My Little Pony, Nerf toys, Pac-Man, rubber duck and scooter.

The Hall of Fame, in Rochester, N.Y., has been recognizing toys since its founding in 1998. This ear’s winner be announced Nov. 7.

Nominations are being accepted for 2014.
