A man stabbed a woman and another man after an altercation in the North Side’s Uptown neighborhood late Thursday, police said.

About 5:40 p.m., police were called to the 1000 block of West Lawrence Avenue after a report of someone with a knife, Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

Officers found a 38-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man both bleeding from stab wounds. Both had apparently been stabbed by a 54-year-old man after a prior dispute, police said.

The injured woman and man were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, Alfaro said, citing preliminary information.

The 54-year-old man was not in custody as of early this morning, Alfaro said.
