Average fixed-rate mortgage rates dropped ever so slightly this week, according to Freddie Mac’s weekly survey.

The average interest rate on a 30-year, fixed-rate loan was 4.29 percent, down from 4.33 percent last week. A year ago, the average rate on that loan product was 3.34 percent.

On a 15-year, fixed rate mortgage loan, the average rate was 3.38 percent. That compared with 3.39 percent last week and 2.56 percent in the same week a year ago.
