That’s impossible: “When we first started Digital H2O, I had a conference call with a group of ‘industry experts’ to explain the business. This call was facilitated by a third party and was supposed to be a ‘friendly feedback’ call. Unfortunately, it turned into a feeding frenzy — and I was the bait. One of the guys chose to throw critique after critique at me regarding every aspect of our business plan. He offered nothing constructive, and his questions weren’t thought-provoking but, instead, inflammatory and abrasive. It’s almost as he was trying to put me on the defensive with every sentence. He was an entrepreneur himself, which made his demeanor even more surprising. I got through it by reminding myself of something every entrepreneur knows: It’s not opinions or critiques that matter — it’s execution, value creation, problem solving. Tough questions should make you think critically about your business to decide what has merit and what doesn’t. That reflection is important, but keeping perspective is important, too.”
