Police issued a business alert this afternoon warning about taxi drivers that have been robbed at gunpoint in the early morning hours in the city’s Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.

Police said a man hails a taxi and once he reaches his destination he pulls out a gun and takes the driver’s cash and cell phone.

The first robbery occurred June 14 about 3:40 a.m. on the 4700 block of South Michigan Avenue. The second robbery happened about 2:30 a.m. July 2 on the 4800 block of South Michigan Avenue, said police.

The robber is described as a man between the ages of 20 to 29. He is between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs between 160 to 170 pounds, said police.
