In many ways Richard Nixon made me. Growing up in Madison, Wisconsin I fought many a pitched battle defending the president. I was convinced that Richard Nixon was being framed and even more convinced that no president would ever lie to us. That almost laughable naivete was burst on August 8, 1974. Since then I have clinged to a cynicism that, sadly, have been born out over and over again.
