Authorities are investigating a fatal accident involving an 87-year-old pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car while crossing Sheridan Road near the Plaza del Lago shopping center Friday night, Wilmette police said.
Police said the victim, Robert E. Sullivan, 87, a resident of the 1600 block of Sheridan Road, was hit as he tried to cross in front of a northbound vehicle, according to police.
The accident took place in the 1600 block of Sheridan Road, just north of the shopping center entrance, adjacent to a pizza restaurant, authorities said.
Wilmette police are being assisted in the investigation by the Major Crash Assistance Team, which is part of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force.
