Does Cubs manager Joe Maddon get paid by the hour? He does not understand why baseball wants to speed up the game? It’s because people lose interest with something that takes three hours to play.

Please enlighten us as to how the president used his veto pen to go against the will of the people. The president is in office because of “We the People,” same as Glenda Ritz. Just because Republicans refuse to acknowledge it doesn’t make it so.

If Indiana’s lawmakers insist on repealing a construction wage law that’s been on the books for 80 years, at least add a rider to the bill mandating the jobs be done by Indiana companies and workers.

There are way too many stories in the paper of caretakers who take advantage of or abuse the elderly. Elder abuse laws need to have a severe penalty for these cruel people.

As union membership declines, so does the middle class. Corporations spend big bucks to persuade you to think unions are the problem, and you fall for it like sheep.

House Republicans love America so much that they are going to let the Department of Homeland Security run out of money. Why doesn’t Giuliani talk about that?

Another fight, this time in the bleachers at the Roosevelt boys basketball game. If this continues, there will be no sports activity left in Northwest Indiana.

My husband has been a union plumber for 30 years and has never had a job where one works and three watch. Construction unions are not like that. Why do we judge one another on how we look? Does it really matter where we live, what we drive, where we work? Isn’t life hard enough and much too short to be so judgmental?

We all need to support these workers on strike. Without the unions, we would all be making $9.50 an hour with no insurance.

I do not understand why politicians do so many things that hurt the common working man. First right to work and now repealing the Common Construction Wage. This opens it up to unskilled labor. Do they really think that buildings being constructed subpar is going to save money in the long run? Why don’t they care about the common working man?
