Family Services of Glencoe will be searching for a new leader as Executive Director Susan Cowen is moving on to a similar role in the northwestern suburbs.
Cowen has announced she intends to resign April 30 from FSG, the village’s social service agency, to become president of the Kenneth Young Center, which provides assistance to senior citizens and those seeking mental health services in areas including Elk Grove Village, Park Ridge and Hoffman Estates.
“It is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement,” said FSG President Marilyn Perlman in a prepared statement. “Suzy’s dedication and expertise have taken our agency to the next level, as we have increased our outreach and support of the socio-emotional needs of the Glencoe community.
“Our donor base has grown. The agency is financially sound. While her leadership will be sorely missed, I am confident that FSG will continue to provide high quality service as we embark on seeking our agency’s next executive director. We wish Suzy the very best and are grateful for all we have accomplished in the last three years.”
Cowen has served as FSG Executive Director since December 2011. Last year a second FSG office was opened in the village’s downtown and the 101-year-old agency reports counseling visits have increased by 37percent during Cowen’s time at the helm.
FSG Clinical Director Al Ross will take over as interim executive director May 1, while the board searches for a long-term replacement for Cowen.
