A recent Southtown story on Tinley Park Mayor Ed Zabrocki reported that, “Allies describe the longtime mayor as a deeply likable man who cares about the community’s every nook.” Perhaps those allies should take a tour of some of those nooks that have been completely overlooked and ignored for years while the anger, frustrations and disappointments of people who have lived in those neighborhoods, many for decades, have continued to grow.

I agree with the recent Speak Out item about Oak Forest Bob. Why not put a special political section in for him? I enjoy all the articles and columns in the Southtown, but Oak Forest Bob does seems to have loads of political views in Speak Out. Speak Out needs a variety of views.

When Gov. Rauner stated that he was going to “rip the economic guts out of Indiana,” I hope he starts with a downtown Chicago casino. That will really give the Chicago area a leg up in our economy and set an example of how great thou art. I’m tired of driving and giving my cash to Indiana.

If Mr. Younker is leaving the park district to be a Tinley Park village trustee, does that mean we in Tinley Park will finally have enough parks? We can only hope. It’s surprising that Tinley Park hasn’t won an award for “Easiest Place to Find a Park.” With around 50, we may have more parks per capita than anywhere on the planet.

I’m a reader and have been reading for more than seven years and also sending in comments to Speak Out. You know there are others who like Speak Out other than Tinley Park residents. It seems like they are being rewarded daily. Is it maybe because the Southtown has more readers there? Take a deep breath. We matter, too.
If the governor were being honest, he would admit that the 5 percent state income tax was not really high compared with the states around us. If it was still at 5 percent, it would have over time solved a lot of Illinois’ financial problems, but then his friends would have had to pay that, which he doesn’t want. He doesn’t want to have his friends in the upper echelon pay a higher state income tax. And I still wonder if Bob from Oak Forest is one of your editors or why he’s in Speak Out every day.

People are saying, or the Congress is saying, that we can’t trust Iran to live up to the nuclear arms agreement. My question is, how can we trust Russia or China? Russia is already selling Iran a missile defense system and what makes you think Putin wouldn’t turn his back on us the first chance he gets.
I read where Chicago Ald. Edward Burke is proposing allowing strip clubs that serve alcohol to have topless waitresses and dancers. Well, that seems right up his alley because it’s just like stripping us of our money when it comes to taxes and giving us nothing in return. I guess the Chicago City Council is very experienced in that. More than likely that measure will pass.

The city of Chicago has paid approximately $96 million in legal settlements for the Jon Burge police torture cases. The city council is prepared to pay $5.5 million to the family of Laquan McDonald, who was shot 16 times by police. It stands to reason that the cause of the city’s financial crisis is not pensions. It’s police misconduct.

Wow, $15 an hour for hamburger flippers? I wonder if they’ll be able to get your order right. They can’t do it right now for what they’re making, at or near the minimum wage.
