A 25-year-old Chicago man died Saturday morning after being hit by a vehicle in the parking lot of a Chicago Heights strip club, and the Cook County medical examiner’s office on Sunday ruled his death a homicide.

Chicago Heights Police responded about 4:10 a.m. to a report of a fight in the parking lot of Club 390, 390 E. Joe Orr Road. When they arrived they found the man with injuries to his head and body, police said in a release Sunday.

The medical examiner’s office identified the man as Jose J. Romero, of the first block of East 106th Street. He was pronounced dead at the Franciscan St. James Health facility in Chicago Heights at 7:10 a.m.

Chicago Heights police did not specify whether the fight was related to the hit-and-run but are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the detective division at (708) 756-6422.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force also is investigating.

Club 390 did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
