Authorities say a father and his toddler son are dead and three other family members were injured in a house fire in the northern Illinois village of Roscoe.
The Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department says the fire broke out about midnight Thursday and the two victims were found in a first-floor bedroom. The Winnebago County coroner’s office identified the dead as 2-year-old Orin Bekielewski and his father, Alan Bekielewski. Autopsies are pending.
Three others were taken to local hospitals for evaluation.
The fire burned a large hole in the home’s roof. The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene.
The cause is under investigation.
Roscoe is near the Illinois border with Wisconsin, about 20 miles north of Rockford.
