Police are investigating the death of a 48-year-old Oak Park woman found dead in Forest Park as a possible suicide.
Forest Park Police Chief Tom Aftanas said evidence at the scene has investigators believing Alicia H. Yaus committed suicide after she went missing Nov. 28.
Yaus, of the 500 block of Forest Avenue in Oak Park, was found inside her car at approximately 3:30 p.m. Dec. 2, police said. The car was parked behind a building in an industrial area near 15th Street and Circle Avenue in Forest Park, according to a press release from the village of Oak Park.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the body as that of Yaus on Dec. 3, but have not given a cause of death pending toxicology test results.
Aftanas said they are waiting for those results before concluding the investigation.
“It is being investigated as a possible suicide and that’s pending toxicology from the medical examiner’s office,” Aftanas said.
The investigation is being led by the Forest Park Police Department, with cooperation from Oak Park police.
