In March 2003, Fred Ulayyet asked his friend Woodrow Wilcox to answer the phone for one day at the Merrillville office of Senior Care Insurance Services. Ulayyet’s receptionist took the day off to visit her doctor.
During that day, Wilcox got several phone calls from clients who said that their insurance company didn’t pay a bill. Wilcox asked Fred Ulayyet about that. Ulayyet explained what he knew about the problem and showed Wilcox what he did to help his clients get their claims paid.
“Suddenly, I realized that I understood the problem and knew what to do to fix it,” Wilcox explains. Ulayyet noticed how quickly his friend Wilcox understood the problem and could help the clients of the insurance agency. A few days later, Ulayyet asked “Woody” to come to work at Senior Care Insurance Services to help protect clients from medical billing mistakes and fraud.
“In the first seven and a half years that I worked at Senior Care Insurance Services, I saved our clients over one million dollars by correcting medical bill errors. After that, I stopped counting how much I was saving the clients,” Wilcox says.
Wilcox wrote the book “Solving Medicate Problem$” to teach others how to help senior citizens to correct Medicare related medical bill errors and fraud. Wilcox estimates that Medicare related medical bill mistakes cost senior citizens throughout America more than one billion dollars per year in false medical bills.
“I think that Fred and I are a great team. Fred helps seniors get the most for their money with Medicare related insurance. Once a senior is our client, I work to protect the senior from the financial harm that mistakes and fraud can cause a senior in the Medicare system,” Wilcox says.
The teamwork gets good results. Since 2003, Senior Care Insurance Services has grown from one office in Merrillville with a few agents to four offices with more than a dozen insurance agents. Now, Schererville, Valparaiso, Munster and Merrillville have offices of Senior Care Insurance Services. The main phone numbers for all the offices are 219-736-7800 and 800-821-0604.
