Evanston police on Friday said they were conducting a “death investigation” after the body of a man was pulled from Lake Michigan, authorities said.
On Friday shortly after 1 p.m. detectives from the Chicago Police Department contacted Evanston police advising them that they had located a deceased male in Lake Michigan along the shoreline in the 300 block of Sheridan Road in Evanston, Evanston police said in a release.
They said Chicago police were in the area searching for an adult that was reported missing from Chicago. Clothing and personal items belonging to the missing person from Chicago were also located on the shoreline, the release said.
Evanston police are currently conducting a “death investigation” into the matter, the release said, and there are no signs of foul play.
No further information is being released pending formal identification of the deceased and notification of next of kin, authorities said.
