Thank you Phil Kadner for keeping my mind open, when it wanted to close.

Can we dial back the overly used term “class act,” which is frequently made in reference to someone who demonstrates a degree of civility, articulation and congenitally. I know these qualities are in short supply today, but in days long past, those who possessed them were just considered “every day Joes.”

The Obamas and their “Design Group” are still deciding the location of his Presidential Library on Chicago’s South Side and its architect. It seems a big question is, what material it should be made of. Steel, concrete, brick, etc., have all been considered. How about “cards?” That seems appropriate because for the last eight years Mr. Obama has been running a “house of cards” with us and our country’s future. I’d also be interested in seeing how its visitors will be “dealt” with, if they survive.

Congratulations on your retirement, Phil. I’ve enjoyed reading your columns over the years, even on the rare occasion when I disagreed with you. I hope you enjoy a long, healthy and happy retirement. You will be missed.

The stores that lost revenue due to Black Friday protesters had every right to call police. These stores don’t pay taxes so police can stand around and do nothing while their businesses are being victimized by domestic terrorists. Talk about taxation without representation!

Mr. Kadner, thank you for many wonderful mornings with a cup of coffee and you, and may you (and your wife) enjoy a wonderful and well-deserved retirement.

We all know that Hilary Clinton wears pant suits each and everyday, proving who really wears the pants in that family. But are we really ready for “Slick Willy” to continue his antics removing his pants every time Hilary is taken away on from the White House on presidential business? Our country doesn’t need that embarrassment ever again.

The three young men shot and killed in Chicago by the police: Laquan McDonald, Ronald Johnson and Cedrick Chatman. It is a shame it had to come to this. What was it that led up to this? Why were the police stopping them in the first place? Could it be that they were doing something wrong?

Voting is a right; driving a car is a privilege that requires an ID. It has taken most of the history of this country to achieve universal rights for all of its citizens. Let’s not attack it now, just to prevent someone whose vote you do not favor from voting.

I disagree with one recent contributor. I enjoyed watching the recent Steelers-Bengals football game. It was a dirty game with poor sportsmanship. That I cannot deny. At the same time, I enjoyed it immensely because it was exciting. It was a close game near the end. and it had a lot of thrills. If you want to watch a clean game, then I suggest you watch kids pee-wee football.

A big thank you to Phil Kadner for the reporter you became. You were a voice for the common man, and I and so many others loved what you had to say. We may not have always agreed with your opinions, but you were a beacon of light for so many men, women and children in the Southland. My favorite column was the one you wrote about your dad and his influence on you and your writing. Maybe in the foreseeable future, Mr. Kadner will join the ranks of Speak Out contributors. Enjoy your retirement. You’ve earned it.
