I just finished reading Donna Vickroy’s column on the passing of Teddy. I am a dog lover myself and that was one of the most touching columns I have read in very long time. I have two dogs that have wormed their way into my heart and I cannot imagine what it will be like without them. Unfortunately, their little lives are not as long as ours and I am sure they will leave me way too soon but I know I will always remember the joy they brought me while they were here.

So now the blacks are upset and will boycott the Oscars because no blacks were nominated. You don’t hear whites boycotting Rev. Jackson’s black-only college fund, Black Miss America, the BET awards, and the list goes on.
Our poor excuse for a president, Barack Hussein Obama, has known that all our big cities in the United States have a disgraceful gang problem and especially in Chicago where he was living before he went to Washington, D.C., as president. Obama had over six years to rectify the gang problem, and he has failed to do so, just like he failed with all our country’s vital problems. He tripled our national debt and ruined our country’s security by allowing immigrants to illegally cross our borders. Now he wants to take away our guns and allow all the gangs to prey on the innocent people and our country. Impeach this incompetent president before he kills all of us.

It’s pretty disconcerting to see professional athletes rocking back and forth, looking around, placing their right hands anywhere but over their hearts during the playing of the national anthem. Yes, I know, the old freedom to “do your own thing” argument. Well, it’s too bad these athletes can’t stay focused or put aside their personal grudges and show respect for the country that provides them with much more than they would ever receive from any other country on this planet.

Ouch! I’ve been chastised. B.J. from Hazel Crest is correct. Trump does rant and rave, but at least he “tells it like it is,” or what it should be and sticks to it. He’s not PC or a politician who bends in the wind and can be swayed by others. As far as his presidential qualifications? Let’s see, Trump’s a successful, proven, knowledgeable, multibillionaire international businessman who has already dealt with many world leaders. Then we had Obama. We already know his record. A “cracker-jack” community organizer. Then we have our “liberal” candidates. One’s already under federal investigation for many offenses, and the other’s just a plain out and out socialist/communist who believes “government” should rule our lives. B.J., given these facts, who do you think is more qualified and who would you vote for?

Hillary wants to hold gun manufacturers responsible in civil lawsuits for harm caused by their use? If the gun worked as designed, how can that be? No negligence in my book. If you die in a Ford due to a lousy driver can you sue the Ford Company? You may not like guns, but holding the manufacturer guilty will never fly, only to maybe get her some votes which is her point anyway.

BJ, Hazel Crest: You stated that Donald Trump “does not fit our standards for president.” Are you saying that Barack Obama does fit our standards? I don’t think so. He is regarded as a weak leader by other countries, and totally misses the target on domestic issues. The attraction that Donald Trump poses is that he is not a politician and says what most Americans think. Yes, he comes on pretty strong and, at times, over the top. But, if you want to keep things status quo, then elect another politician, Democrat or Republican.

The Flint, Mich., water crisis has nothing to do with racial injustice, yet Hillary Clinton’s remarks were inflammatory and suggested that it was. This is why she is not good presidential material.
