A CPS employee was pronounced dead after being shot in front of McNair Elementary School on the 4800 block of West Walton Street in the South Austin neighborhood on June 16, 2016. The victim, Denzel Thornton, of Chicago, was shot in the head about 12:30 p.m. while in a vehicle in front of the school.
