Two 14-year-old boys have been questioned in connection with the recent early morning burglary of an East Dundee gas station, East Dundee police said.

“They were identified and interviewed last night and charges are pending against one and possibly on the second one,” Police Chief Terry Mee said Friday.

According to police, at 1:16 a.m. Wednesday, the teens used a hammer-like object to shatter the glass in the door of the Mobil gas station on Route 25. After seeing an employee was there, they took off, Mee said.

Police officials began checking the other service stations in the area and found broken glass from the door of the Amstar gas station at 305 E Main St. The gas station’s burglary alarm didn’t go off until officers arrived, officials said. However, the teens were picked up on the Amstar’s surveillance video breaking the glass door and entering the store, police said.

The teens, one from West Dundee and the other from Carpentersville, are accused of stealing an undetermined amount of tobacco and liquor, police said.
