Michigan City (2-0) at Chesterton (2-0)

When: 7 p.m. Friday.

Media: WRTW, 90.5 FM.

What to watch: This is a big moment for Wolves. Michigan City coach Phil Mason believes his team is good enough to compete in the top level of the Duneland Athletic Conference. The Wolves are off to a good start with wins over Griffith and Northridge. Chesterton at home won’t be easy. Trojans barely got past Munster last week.

LaPorte (2-0) at Valparaiso (1-1)

When: 7 p.m. Friday.

What to watch: Slicers, ranked No. 4, will be challenged by the top-ranked Vikings. Valparaiso moved up after Merrillville was pounded by Penn. LaPorte rushed for 347 yards last week in a win over Hobart. The Slicers were able to get those yards without running back Chris Juszkiewicz. Valparaiso didn’t have any problems against West Side, winning 49-0.

Crown Point (1-1) at Merrillville (1-1)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

What to watch: Bulldogs have to figure out a way to score a touchdown in regulation. Their only TD came in a 9-3 double-overtime win over Lowell in the season opener. Crown Point lost last week to Mishawaka 10-6. The Pirates were offensively challenged in a 35-2 loss to Penn. They threw two interceptions and quarterback Cameron Wright was sacked six times. The Bulldog defense has been tough. This could be a low-scoring game.

Lake Central (1-1) at Portage (1-1)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

What to watch: Another big Duneland Athletic Conference game. The Indians beat Lowell on a 40-yard field goal by Josh Gonzalez with 38.2 seconds left. That helped ease the pain of a disappointing opening loss to Mishawaka. Lake Central played Lincoln-Way Central from Illinois tough in a 24-21 loss. Both teams can score. This game should feature lots of action.

Griffith (1-1) at Hobart (1-1)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

What to watch: This will likely be the last big Northwest Crossroads Conference game against Hobart for the Panthers. Griffith moves into the Greater South Shore Conference after this season. The Panthers beat Wheeler easily last week 49-28 while Hobart lost to LaPorte 27-10. Neither team wants to lose the NCC opener.
