No explosives were found at two Long Grove schools after a caller told emergency dispatchers early Saturday morning that he wanted to blow up Country Meadows Elementary School and Woodlawn Middle School, police said.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies conducted a search of the schools, both located on Gilmer Road. The search included the use of a bomb-detecting K-9 police dog and did not find anything suspicious, according to a news release.

The call came in at 2:19 a.m. Saturday, so both buildings were empty and did not need to be evacuated, Sgt. Sara Balmes said. The caller also indicated he wanted to blow up police departments within a 50-mile area.

Area police departments and school administration were notified of the threat, which remains under investigation, according to the release. Police do not believe there is any danger to the schools at this time.
