Park Ridge police are looking for three masked men who robbed a convenience store overnight.

The robbery was reported at 7-Eleven, Higgins Road and Cumberland Avenue, shortly after 3:30 a.m. Jan. 7, police said in an alert issued through the department’s Nixle service.

According to a preliminary investigation, three men arrived at the business in a light-colored BMW with no rear license plate and entered the shop with their faces covered, police said. One of the men jumped over the counter, while the other two walked around it, stealing an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register, police said.

According to police, one of the suspects used a black handgun to strike an employee in the face before all three left the store, got into the BMW parked outside and fled south on Cumberland Avenue over the I-90 expressway.

The store clerk was not seriously injured and was treated by paramedics at the scene, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Park Ridge Police Department at 847-318-5252.

This is the third armed robbery reported in Park Ridge since early December.

On the morning of Dec. 6, another 7-Eleven, located at 976 N. Northwest Highway, was robbed of cash by a single suspect, while the pharmacy at Walgreens, 800 W. Devon Ave., was robbed of narcotic medications on the evening of Dec. 15. A fingerprint left at the scene of the Walgreens robbery led to the arrest of a 24-year-old Chicago man, police said. He remains in custody at Cook County Jail, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.
