Officials at Dominican University have called an interfaith prayer service for this afternoon following several incidents of swastika graffiti popping up around the River Forest campus.
According to a tweet sent by the university, the interfaith service will begin at 3:30 p.m. today outside the Priory Chapel, 7200 Division St., to “take back space recently defaced by [a] swastika.”
According to Dominican spokesperson Jessica Mackinnon, the campus has had “a few incidents” in which someone or some people have defaced campus spaces by posting swastikas.
“The interfaith prayer service is designed to affirm Dominican University’s values of love, respect and commitment to the dignity of every member of the Dominican community,” Mackinnon said.
Cantor Julie Yugend-Green and Rabbi Max Weiss of Oak Park Temple B’nai Abraham Zion are expected to be in attendance at the service, Mackinnon said.
