A new food establishment will be running the concession stand at Park Ridge’s Centennial Aquatic Center this summer.
The Park Ridge Park District Board of Commissioners on Jan. 26 approved an agreement with Park Ridge-based EVOO Catering and Events to sell food and beverages at the pool, located at 100 S. Western Ave.
Under the agreement, EVOO, which was one of three companies to submit proposals, will pay the park district 10 percent of the summer’s net sales, plus a $3,000 concessionaire fee, said Park District spokeswoman Margaret Holler.
Last year, the park district received $12,508 from the stand’s operator, which reflected 10 percent of sales plus the concessionaire fee, Holler said.
Under the operation of a Rosati’s Pizza franchise, the concession stand received a 66 percent score during a routine inspection by the city’s environmental health department last summer, reports indicated. Holler said the park district worked with the operator and the city to “ensure the items noted were addressed to the satisfaction of the health inspectors.”
Pool passes for the 2017 season go on sale April 1, Holler said. Centennial opens May 27, as does the South Park wading pool and the Prospect Park splash pad, she said. Hinkley Pool opens June 3.
