Better ingredients. Better Snark:

The Bulls lost to a Knicks team that had been eliminated from postseason consideration, had lost Derrick Rose to yet another injury, and had killed the value, if not also the soul, of Carmelo Anthony. There’s your Bulls playoff team, ladies and gentlemen.

If you let Cubs pitchers vote, I’m guessing Joe Maddon would never be allowed to put Jon Jay or Jason Heyward in center.

The Cubs’ 2-1 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday took almost three hours. Same as a Bears game except with talent.

Anthony Rizzo and Jake Arrieta showed up on David Ross’ first “Dancing With The Stars” episode. Now Ross is showing up on the new Bryzzo videos and on ESPN shows talking about the paso doble and spray tans. And guess who’s expected to throw out a first pitch next week? For a guy who retired, Ross just won’t leave.

But hey, better Ross than that cockamamie goat yarn.

Niko Mirotic inbounded a ball while Rajon Rondo was tying his shoes. There’s your Bulls playoff team, ladies and gentlemen.

The status of the White Sox rebuilding project was put to James Shields last week, prompting the inconsistent right-handed starter to say this:

“Everyone keeps talking about this rebuild. I’m looking at the guys in the clubhouse, and it doesn’t look like we’re rebuilding too much.”

Yes. Exactly. That’s the problem. The Sox aren’t worse than the Twins. Fix that, Rick Hahn.

This, by the way, is not the year the Sox need Shields to figure it out.

Unless he figures it out well enough to get traded.

I never got the idea of a day off after an opener. What, everybody’s tired from all the pageantry?

Or if it’s to allow for a rain date, don’t you have the rest of the season for rescheduling a day-night double-header? Just look at the cavernously empty newly named Sox Park on Tuesday for details.

Think of it this way: Jose Quintana’s opening-day outing was a big step toward that high draft pick.

Should we start a Quintana-O-Meter reflecting what he’s worth in trade after each start?

Stevemail from Steve Fortuna: “Yeah, I trust the people who don’t know a rainout when they see it to get us good value in return for Quintana.”

Pernell McPhee received the Bears’ Ed Block Courage Award while rehabbing from a torn labrum. The violent linebacker couldn’t say when he’ll be back on the field, but he’s expected to be aggressive in pushing toward his next injury.

Feel-good story: Bryan Bickell suited up with the Hurricanes on Tuesday to play his first NHL game after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis five months ago.

The Bulls got pounded on the boards because they didn’t care enough to prepare like professionals. There’s your Bulls playoff team, ladies and gentlemen.
