A Kane County jury convicted a 24-year-old Carpentersville man for residential burglary involving a stolen gun, , according to a Kane County State’s Attorney’s news release.
Juan Arellano, of the 1-99 block of Pine Street was convicted Tuesday of felony residential burglary and faces between four and 17 years in prison, according to the release. His sentencing hearing before 16th Circuit Judge Donald M. Tegeler Jr. is scheduled June 9, it stated.
Prosecutors said Arellano and two others unlawfully and without permission entered a home on Carpentersville’s south side and took items including a handgun, a dozen pairs of collectible shoes, a designer backpack worth about $2,200 and jewelry. One of Arellano’s companions reported the incident to police and the other companion was charged with residential burglary, the release stated.
Arellano remains in the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $75,000 bail, the release stated.
