Gary police are investigating the death of a man shot at his residence Wednesday, according to officials.
Gary police responded to a call for service at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of E. 7th Avenue, Lt. Dawn Westerfield said in the release. Officers found a man who was unresponsive, and he was declared dead at the scene by the Lake County Coroner’s Office, according to Westerfield.
The man was identified by the coroner’s office as Stacy W. Hodge, 30, of Gary. Hodge’s residence was listed as the same house as where the incident occurred, according to a release from the coroner.
Hodge’s death was ruled a homicide, and he had gunshot wounds, according to the coroner.
Police had previously said Wednesday that “foul play is suspected,” but did not release further details.
