Eleven people were wounded in shootings on the South and West sides between Wednesday morning and early Thursday, according to Chicago police.
About 4:40 a.m., a 30-year-old man was critically injured in the 7100 block of South Union Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, police said. He was shot multiple times and was found inside a building. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Two people were shot in the 2500 block of South Albany Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood about 1:20 a.m. Thursday, police said. A 16-year-old boy and a 37-year-old man both were shot multiple times as they were standing outside while a vehicle approached and and a gunman inside opened fire. The 16-year-old was shot in the arm, hip, buttock and shoulder. The 37-year-old was shot in both arms and the chest. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.
About 10 p.m. Wednesday on the South Side, a man and a woman were shot in South Chicago neighborhood in the 2600 block of East 83rd Street, police said.
The 35-year-old man was shot in the left hand and right ankle while standing and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
The 28-year-old woman who was sitting in a parked blue sedan was also hit in the right foot and both thighs, police said. She got herself to Jackson Park Hospital, where her condition was stabilized. Two juveniles who were with her suffered minor cuts from glass.
About 9:50 p.m. on the West Side, a 27-year-old man was shot in the right leg in a vacant lot in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. Police found the man in the 3900 block of West Van Buren Street, and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
About 7:50 p.m. on the South Side, a 28-year-old woman was shot in the back in the 7300 block of South Dante Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, according to police and fire officials.
The shooter, who was in a vehicle that approched her, fled and was not under arrest.
The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition, police said.
About 12:50 p.m. on the Far South Side, a 19-year-old man was shot and critically wounded in the Princeton Park neighborhood in the 9400 block of South Perry Avenue, according to police. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to the back. Information about the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately released.
About 11:15 a.m. on the South Side, a man was shot in the 5700 block of South Winchester Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood, according to police. The man, 53, who police said was not the intended target, was in serious condition at Stroger Hospital. The victim was walking when a dark-colored vehicle drove up and someone inside fired shots, hitting him, according to police.
Around 8:55 a.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in the shoulder when shots were fired from a passing vehicle in the 6200 block of South Vernon Avenue in the West Woodlawn neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Stroger, where he was stabilized.
Around 7:30 a.m., a 17-year-old boy walked into Provident Hospital and said he had been shot in the 7100 block of South Merrill Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood, police said. He said two people drove up and shots were fired.
He suffered several gunshot wounds and was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
No one was reported in custody in the shootings.
