A party spirals out of control, the music rich but low key, a melange of organ and hovering synthesizers. Ocean uses distorting devices on his voice to add emotional texture and to enhance and sharpen the characters he briefly embodies. AP"Love & Hate" shows Kiwanuka breaking out of that stylistic box. His core remains intact: a grainy, world-weary voice contemplating troubled times in intimate musical settings. The album announces its more ambitious intentions from the outset, with the trembling strings, episodic piano chords and wordless vocals of the 10-minute "Cold Little Heart." AP"Peace Trail" — Neil Young's second album this year and sixth since 2014 — is occasionally fascinating. Earth, Wind and Fire and CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers are teaming up for a North American tour, titled “2054 The Tour.”
The legendary acts will stop at the United Center July 26, with a special guest DJ and unique stage set-up that will provide audiences with additional space to dance.
The tour kicks off in Oakland, California July 12 before wrapping up in Detroit in August.
Rodgers was recently honored with an Award for Musical Excellence from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Earth, Wind and Fire was inducted in 2000.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. May 5 through Livenation.
