A man shot while driving in the Gresham neighborhood in late March died of his wounds two weeks later, according to authorities.
Eric Kellum, of the 11500 block of South Church Street in Morgan Park, was pronounced dead at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 9, at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Kellum died from complications of multiple gunshot wounds suffered in the shooting, the office determined following an autopsy April 12, the day information about Kellum’s death was released.
Kellum was heading north in a car in the 7600 block of South Winchester Avenue about 2:45 a.m. March 26 when another car pulled up and someone inside fired shots, hitting him in the head and right leg, police said at the time. The man was found in the car nine blocks north, near the corner of Wolcott and Marquette Road. From there, he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.
