Chicago police on Thursday asked for the public’s help in finding a gunman who shot a cabdriver in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

The man is believed to have shot Talal Kurdieh, 58, as he waited for a fare in the 700 block of North Avers Avenue just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Kurdieh was shot in the chest but was stabilized at Stroger Hospital. He had been expected to be released later Wednesday, according to his family.

The man who attacked Kurdieh, a 30-year cabdriver in Chicago, was described as a black man with a dark complexion, about 20 to 24 years old, standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing 120 to 130 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing.
