Shodeen Homes and the village of Elburn celebrated the groundbreaking of Elburn Station, a 505-acre mixed use planned unit development that surrounds the recently constructed Metra train station and will include single-family homes, townhomes, rowhomes, apartments and condominiums as well as commercial and retail space.
“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with the village of Elburn and offer a variety of housing options as well as commercial opportunities to enhance the future growth and economic development of Elburn,” says Dave Patzelt, Shodeen construction president. “This groundbreaking ceremony symbolizes the next major step for Shodeen, the Village and its leaders who have worked to bring this development to fruition. The earthwork will now commence and our model home will follow. We encourage interested buyers to visit the model and sales center at our nearby Blackberry Creek neighborhood to learn more about the village of Elburn and Elburn Station.”
Located along Anderson Road, north of Keslinger Road, west of Randall Road and East of Route 47, Elburn Station is centered around Elburn’s Metra train station that provides service to Chicago and will feature several ponds, parks and miles of walking and biking trails. The community also carries the unique distinction of being an AT&T Fiber community ideal for telecommuting with high speed internet and the ability to use multiple devices simultaneously without impacting each other.
“The village is excited for the next step in what has become a great relationship with Shodeen Homes and we welcome them, and the new residents they will bring, to the village of Elburn,” says Jeff Walters, Elburn village president. “The village board, past and present, has invested countless hours working with Shodeen to develop a mutually beneficial relationship and are thrilled to see the fruits of that labor in Elburn Station. Today’s groundbreaking marks the beginning of a process that will double the population of Elburn over the next 20 years. Working with Shodeen, the growth that will take place will be in line with the village’s mission statement that encourages us to welcome new opportunities that enable Elburn to be the ideal place to live, work, worship and play.”
Interested buyers are encouraged to visit the nearby Shodeen model and sales center at 1430 Souders Ave. in Shodeen’s Blackberry Creek neighborhood in Elburn.
