The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced this week that Petite Lake Road near Lake Villa will be closed at its intersection with Route 59 starting June 15 as part of a larger project to resurface Route 59 between Grand Avenue (Route 132) and Highwoods Drive.
According to an IDOT statement, Petite Lake Road will be closed between June 15 and August 15. A posted detour will direct westbound Petite Lake Road traffic to head south on Fairfield Road and west on Grand Avenue and north on Route 59 to meet back with Petite Lake Road.
“The closure is necessary for intersection reconstruction at Petite Lake Road and Illinois 59,” the statement added. “The overall project consists of resurfacing, intersection reconstruction and traffic signal installation along Illinois 59 from Illinois 132 to Highwoods Drive.”
The overall project is expected to be completed in the fall, according to IDOT.
