Sad situation on Sheridan

As a long-time resident of Beach Park, driving down on Sheridan Road is a very sad situation. Thanks to the state the curbs are holding water and won’t drain because the weeds are growing up between the cracks of the curb or falling over the edge. There is no maintenance to the road. They do very little garbage (pickup). Instead of having it (garbage) picked up, they mow over it. It is a very sad situation when you see your tax dollars at work and nothing to show results. We have a highway department in Gurnee. I am not sure Gurnee knows the north side of Gurnee does exist because very little gets done.

Temp plates not proper

Vehicles with Illinois temp plates are over the road. Some of these paper plates are worn out and faded and barely legible. It seems they are expired but still in use. It seems like the latest Rules of the Road is to have no insurance, no driver’s license and no proper license plate and with all of that going on they just keep driving.

Be responsible gun owner

Strange but true, my friends and I have several guns. We are ex-military. We all have Illinois FOID cards. We support the NRA. Guess what, our guns are locked away and none of our guns have committed a crime. It is called responsibility of the owner. A gun only fires when someone pulls the trigger. Let’s punish the idiot who abuses the gun and not the gun itself.

Take care of your own kids

I’d like to comment on a story “School Health Clinic Idea Become a Reality.” I’d like to know since when does the school have to be in charge of health care for children? It is the parent’s responsibility to take care of their kids. If all the kids were sick before and the parents ignored the fact that they need to take care of their children that is their problem. It is not the taxpayer’s, or the school’s or neighborhood’s problem to raise or pay for health care for their children. It is the parent’s responsibility. This is a classic example of the liberal status movement that has been going on for a long time. It is not we can’t help kids at times. These become lifelong things where parents begin to believe it is their right to have the schools or other taxpayers pay for them. It is just absolutely unacceptable.
