Aurora police are looking for information on a couple of weekend shootings that occurred on the Near East Side of the city.
The first was between 11:35 p.m. Oct. 28 and 12:05 a.m. Oct. 29 in the 200 block of Beach Street, according to a post on the Aurora Police Department Facebook page.
A home in that block was struck by gunfire, but the residents were uncooperative when police investigated, according to the post. There were no injuries. The only information police said they have is that a dark-colored sports car may be involved.
The second shooting happened around 11:15 a.m. Oct. 29 when a vehicle was damaged in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue, police said.
A 20-year-old Aurora man told police the shots were fired by a man standing in front of a home in that block. He said he had just pulled over his vehicle to let one of his passengers out when the shooting occurred. His vehicle was struck in the incident, police said.
The suspect is described as a male black, around 5 feet 8 inches tall, 165 pounds, with long dreadlocks. He was wearing a black and blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, according to police.
There were no injuries in either incident and definite motives have not been established but gang motivation has not been ruled out, police said.
Anyone with information should call Aurora Police Department detectives at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000. Calls to Crime Stoppers that lead to any arrests qualify for a cash reward.
