This last election showed that every vote counts. If you don’t show up, you may wake up and find your country has been hijacked and headed somewhere that is not good for your family.

On his way to speak at the FBI’s National Academy, Trump pauses to bloviate to the media about what a mess the “disgraceful” FBI is in, and how he intends to “rebuild” it. Then when he gets to the Academy, he brags about how no President has ever been so supportive — of the FBI. Hypocrisy, your name is Trump.

Over the past 7 years, the economy has added 17 million jobs, unemployment has fallen from 10 percent to 4.1 percent, the stock market has doubled, and median income reached new highs. But somehow if we don’t ram through massive tax cuts for gazillionaires by next week, it all falls apart.

Is there any chance that Republicans, especially those that are up for re-election, realize that although their health care and tax policy is liked by their donors, is unpopular with their voters?

“Better to fight for something, than to live for nothing.”

Maybe it’s high time our political parties realize that crackpots do not make the most appealing candidates.

I am just a plain middle class retired man, but the way I read the new GOP tax and job creating legislation, I am going to come out pretty good. I never have enough to itemize, so just by doubling the standard deduction, I come out smelling like a rose. All of this other talk of what you can and cannot itemize is just clutter that does not affect me. Of course, I want the best for my children and as I see it, they all come out ahead — doubling the standard deduction covers a lot of sins.
