A Metra passenger was taken to a hospital after being stabbed aboard a train nearing Union Station on Saturday morning.
The victim was in the vestibule of an inbound Metra North Line train about 10:30 a.m. when five men tried to rob him, and during that incident, he was stabbed with an unknown object, said Metra spokeswoman Katie Dahlstrom.
The victim, a man, suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, said Dahlstrom, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital.
Preliminary information from police indicated the man suffered a small puncture wound in the left armpit area.
The stabbing happened after the train left the Western Avenue station and was nearing the final stop, at Union Station.
No arrests have been made and Dahlstrom said the transit agency is reviewing video surveillance and is continuing to investigate.
