Chicago police on Monday warned of a series of thefts from vehicles in the department’s 19th District, in neighborhoods including Lakeview, Lincoln Park and Park West.
Authorities said there have been multiple reports from people returning to their parked vehicles only to find a window has been broken and items that were left inside were missing. The items include laptops, tablets, purses, wallets and tools, police said.
The break-ins happened:
In the 1000 block of West Belmont Avenue in Lake View
In the 2700 block of North Lake Shore Drive near Park West
In the 600 block of West Diversey Parkway in Lake View East
In the 2800 Block of North Lake Shore Drive near Park West
In the 2600 block of North Clark Street in Park West
In the 2600 block of North Lincoln Avenue in Wrightwood Neighbors
In the 2400 block of North Cannon Drive in Lincoln Park
In the 2500 block of North Clark Street in Park West
In the 2400 block of North Orchard Street in Park West
In the 500 block of West Oakdale Avenue in Lake View East
Authorities warn residents they should not leave valuables in an unattended vehicle even with locked doors. Police also advise residents to report suspicious activity immediately, remember physical characteristics of offenders and to never pursue an offender but rather to call 911.
