A child initially thought to be with a man who was in a standoff with Chicago police at a West Side building Tuesday afternoon was found and reunited with the child’s mother, but was never at the home, police said.

Police said a man in his 30s refused to come out of a home at the intersection of Chicago and Lockwood avenues in the Austin neighborhood about 1:30 p.m. Police initially received information that the man was barricaded at the home with a 3-year-old following a domestic incident about 11:45 a.m.

The child was reunited with its mother and police concluded their investigation by about 3:30 p.m. without making any arrests, according to a police media notification.
